The Mehtab Bagh (meaning Moon Light Garden) was built during 1631 – 35 A.D. It is situated on the western side of the bank of River Yamuna. It is just opposite to Taj Mahal. This garden is an ideal spot as it gives a picturesque view of Taj Mahal. This garden is built in 25 acre land.
Mehtab Bagh was once an oasis with sweet-smelling flowers, fountain jets, reflecting pools and shaded pavilions. The site became barren and lost its earlier charm. But the Archeological Department has taken measures to restore its glory. This garden reduces the air pollution which is responsible for the discoloration of the beautiful mausoleum, Taj Mahal.
