Durgiana Temple is one of the premier Hindu temples of Punjab located in the city of Amritsar. Durgiana temple derives its name from the Goddess Durga Mata, and it is also called as Lakshmi Narayan Temple. Sometimes this temple is also called as Silver temple for its engraved silver doors. The Durgiana temple complex has few historic temples dedicated to Sita Mata (wife of Lord Rama) and Lord Hanuman. This temple was built by Guru Harsai Mal Kapoor (a hundi dalal) on the model of the Golden temple of Amritsar. A holy water tank is also built around the temple, which will be cleaned every year in the month of March and is refilled with holy waters brought from other sacred tanks and rivers. This cleaning process is called as Kar Sewa . All the devotees make open handed donations to this Kar Sewa.
Daily services are offered to Goddess Durga Mata in this temple of Durgiana. The dome and the sacred pong are the most important attractions of Durgiana Temple, which are considered holy for the Hindu devotees.
