About Kurmagad Island Information-Karwar

The Kurmagad Island is just 6 kms from Karwar town. The tortoise shaped island is a picturesque attraction which has an old fort and a Narasimha shrine, worth a visit. Built several years ago, the historical Narasimha Temple is situated on top of a hill at Kurmagad. The temple is dedicated to Narasimha, one of the 10 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. One can trek up the rugged hill at Kurmagad Island to pray at the Narasimha Temple.

One can even visit the Nagnath Temple where an anthill is worshipped. The annual festival, Yatra, held in January, attracts thousands of devotees from far and near.
