Naina Devi Temple History-Origin-Importance-Architecture

The mythological tale says that Sati was the wife of Lord Shiva. She sacrificed herself at the Yagna performed by her father King Daksha as she was unable to bear the humiliation of her husband by her father. Lord Shiva was so outraged about this that he started dancing with her body in his hands in a terrifying manner. The entire world including the God was very scared at this act. Then Lord Vishnu cut her body into several parts with his Sudarshan Chakra (his weapon) and the different parts of her body fell in different parts of the country. On every site that a piece of her body fell a temple has been constructed and is worshipped with high devotion as a place of divinity, strength and dedication.
