Parwanoo is located in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Parwanoo is located about 40 km from Chandigarh and is 15 km from the district headquarters Solan city. Its geographical coordinates are 30.50 North and 76.57 East and it is located at an elevation of about 470 meters.
The town is separated by a river bed from Kalka. The area from Pinjore to Parwanoo is almost a continuous urban belt.
The district shares its boundaries with Mandi and Kullu in the North, Kinnaur in the East, Uttaranchal State in the South, Sirmaur district in the West. The district is located in the North-western ranges of the Himalayas and is irrigated by River Sutlej and the tributaries of Yamuna River - Giri and Pabbar. Solan district is a part of the Sutlej circuit of Himachal. The Sutlej circuit derives its name from the ancient River Sutlej that flows through the circuit.
Parwanoo is a city and a municipal council in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Parwanoo has transformed from an unknown place to a major industrial town. It is also called the Orchard Town.
The town is mainly divided into 6 sectors that spread across the Shiwalik Range. The sectors are within the radius of 4 km.

Parwanoo has one of the largest fruit processing units of HPMC and the HP Agro Industries have a Cattle Feed Unit and a Pesticide Unit. About 80% of the total population of the town is employed with these industries.
Parwanoo is located so close to Chandigarh and Panchkula that this has turned to be a boom to the town's development. The Himachal government has set up many industrial sectors and has given incentives such as exemption from taxes and financing incentives to promote the establishment of small scale units here. The most renowned industrial units located here are IND-SPHINX Precision ltd, Kapco International Ltd, Purolator, Morepen, Eicher,Samtel etc. The industries are mainly engaged in the manufacture of Fruit based products, plastics, motor parts and watches.
Moving away from the commercial side and coming to tourism, the natural beauty of Parwanoo makes it an ideal destination for adventure sports like trekking and nature walks. The fir and pine trees spread all around the town, makes the place look absolutely beautiful and keeps the weather pleasant for a relaxed walk. There are many good trekking trails that are wonderful for spending the whole day amidst the beautiful hills and forest areas.
The beautiful orchards are an absolute wonder to watch that visitors often do not see in the commercial cities of the country. The fruits from these orchards are used to produce a number of food products like juices, jams, preserves, etc. More than the value they add to the natural scenic beauty they contribute greatly to the economy of the place. The largest fruit processing unit of HPMC is in Parwanoo.
The nearest big town is Solan which is about15 km from Parwanoo. Solan is the district headquarters and is a popular tourist destination and a well-developed city.
