How to reach Guwahati By Bus-Car-Taxi-Train

Reach Guwahati By Air/Flight:

Guwahati Airport or Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is just 20 kms southwest of Guwahati city centre. This Airport connects Delhi, Imphal, Agartala, Aizawal, Jorhat, Silchar, Tezpur, Bagdogra, Jaipur, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, and Kolkata. Guwahati Airport serves as a major hub for North-East India-bound flights. Guwahati Airport has regular helicopter services to Shillong (30 mts), Naharlagun in Arunachal Pradesh, Tura in Meghalaya (50 mts), and Tawang (75 mts). Tourism buses and taxis and pre-paid taxis are available at the Guwahati Airport. Air-conditioned bus service was recently launched in Guwahati between the Airport and many prime bus stands of the city.

Reach Guwahati By Rail/Train:

Guwahati Rail Junction is located at the Paltan Bazar in the heart of the city, operated by the Northeast Frontier Railway. 5 other Railway Stations operate in and around Guwahati:
1. Azara – this rail station is near Guwahati Airport.
2. Amingaon – this is one of the oldest station of Guwahati.
3. Narangi – this station is used to halt trains which arrive at Guwahati from the north-eastern States.
4. Agthori – this station is near IIT Guwahati on the north end of the city.
5. New Guwahati railway station – this station is new the Guwahati Refinery and is used for freight services.

Through these Stations, Guwahati connects to Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Secunderabad, Trivandrum, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Lalgarh, Okha, Chennai, Jhajha, Puri, Jammu, Amritsar, Bikaner and Mumbai by train. To make it more convenient for yourself, do find out which Railway Station is the nearest to your destination in Guwahati and get off there.

Buses and Taxis are available at these railway stations for local transport.

Reach Guwahati By Road:

National Highway 31 links Guwahati to Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. National Highway 37 runs the full length of Assam linking Guwahati, Nagaon, Jorhat, Sibsagar, Dinjan, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia. NH37 also runs through Kaziranga National Park. Assam State buses, private inter-city buses and taxis ply regularly on all these routes.

Reach Guwahati Bus Route:

Guwahati is well connected by extensive bus routes from all parts of Assam State and from the neighbouring States as well. Assam State Transport Corporation Buses and private buses are frequently available to most places in Assam. Guwahati Bus Stand is just adjacent to the Guwahati Rail Junction at Paltan Bazar where all the inter-city buses commence. And Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) is located 9 kms south of Guwahati Railway Station and 20 kms east of Guwahati Airport.
