Mattapalli City Travel Guide

Mattapalli Andhra Pradesh: Mattapalli is a small village popular for the temple of Narasimha Swami. Mattapalli is situated on the banks of river Krishna, in Huzurnagar taluq of Nalgonda District in Andhra Pradesh, India. Mattapalli is also close to Vijayawada. A visit to this place, situated in the forest, on the banks of the perennial river Krishna, it instills a spark, awe and devotion in the heart and soul of every visitor.

Mattapalli is said to be one of the "Pancha Narasimha Kshetras", the other being Vedadri, Vadapally, Vethapuram and Mangalagiri. Mattapalli is said to be the centre shrine, while the other above mentioned temples of Lord Narasimha, are on each of the four directions. There is a popular verse about this place which goes thus :- " Ekameva Kshetram, Mattapalli Kshetram, Na Anyat Kshetram, Mattapalli Tulyam, Ekameva Tatvam, Mattapalli Naatham, na Anyat Tatvam, Palli Simha Tulyam". It means that "Mattapalli is the only pilgrim spot in the region and there is only one Lord, the Lord of Mattapalli. There is no secondary place as this whatsoever it may be and there is no secondary God equal to this, whosoever it may be."

The presiding deities of this legendary temple are Sri Yogananda Lakshmi Narasimha Swami, Sri Raajyalakshmi Thaayar and Sri Chenchu Lakshmi Thaayar.
