Anantapur City Travel Guide
One of the prominent cities, Anantapur lies to the western most part of Andhra Pradesh. The city has a perfect blend of history and modernity. There are ancient temples, forts and monuments in and around the town. The town appears close to a city with well-established educational institutions, hospitals, theatres, hotels, modern restaurants etc. The people are friendly and welcoming. The language spoken here is largely Telugu but the locals can understand English and Hindi as well.
The summer is very hot here and it's cool only during winter season. Best time to visit the town is between September and February. While you are in Anantapur make sure to visit its prominent attractions like the marvellous temple of Lord Siva at Lepakshi, the birth place of God-man, Sri Satya Sai Baba at Puttaparthi, one of the biggest and oldest banyan tree at Gutibayalu or Thimmamma Marrimanu (as it is locally called), the famous Lakshmi Narasimha Temple at Kadiri, the forts at Rayadurga, Gooty, Penukonda and Hemavathi and the famous Chintala Venkataramana Temple at Tadipatri. Not to miss and something which interests most of the females, is the village of Dharmavaram that has cotton and silk weaving industries. Some of the other places that you can visit are Penna Ahobilam, Alurkona and Gugudu, which are religious places.
