Tiruvuru is a town located in the Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh. The town is well known as a trade and business center for the surrounding 50 villages. The nearest towns are Vissannapeta, Mylavaram and Nuzvid. It is historically a significant place, as the famous Vijayanagara King Sri Krishna Devaraya had a visit to this town during his Jaitra Yatra of Kondapalli in the year 1540 AD. According to several legends, it is said that, about 20,000 Jainas (people who follow Jainism) had been brutally killed by Veerashaivas (people who believe in Shaivism) in the ancient period.
