Tirupati or Tirupati is the town situated at the bottom of the Tirumala Hills of Andhra Pradesh. It is one of the ancient and popular pilgrimage centres in India and is said to have more pilgrims visiting it every year. It is well-known for the temple of Lord Sri Venkateshwara, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. People from every walk of life come here to worship the Lord who resides on the mountain range called as Sheshachalam. His presidency over the seven hills fetched Him the name as the Lord of Seven Hills.
There are many other places near Tirupati that are worth visiting. Tiruchanur is the abode of Goddess Padmavathi, Srinivasa Mangapuram is famous for the temple of Kalyana Venkateshwara Swami that are worth visiting. Other important temples like Govindaraja Swami Temple, Kapileshwara Swami temple, Sri Veda Narayana Swami temple, Sri Kodandarama Swami temple and Agastheeswara Swami temple are all historically important and worth visiting. Srikalahasthi, the abode of Lord Shiva is also near Tirupati and is worth visiting.
