Puttaparthi or Puttapathy is a famous pilgrimage town, located in the Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh. The town is the abode of popular spiritual preacher and saint, Sri Sathya Sai Baba. It has been a famous spiritual centre and is one of the most significant religious places in the country. His holiness Sri Sathya Sai Baba has been receiving universal admiration from the devotees; who come from several countries, being allured by his preachings of universal brotherhood, love and international peace.

Initially, the place was a small village called "Gollapalli" (means home of cowherds) and gradually it has become "Puttaparthi", which is recently transformed to a township. The nearest towns and cities are Anantapur, Dharmavaram, Penukonda, Kadiri, Hindupur and Bengaluru (Bangalore).
Sri Sathya Sai Baba is a simple and modest personality with a moderate build. He stands graceful measuring nearly 5 feet 3 inches, wearing plain robes in orange color. His hair stretches out spherically resembling the blaze of sun. He moves across the devotees during Darshan; come close to them, smiling and talking to them occasionally. Also, he accepts a few letters from the devotees, who write in their wishes.
