When you think of Lakshmi Narasimha Swami Temples in Andhra Pradesh, three well-known shrines- Ahobilam, Simhachalam and Mangalagiri strikes your mind. While Ahobilam enshrines nine forms of Lord Narasimha Simhachalam has the Varaha (boar) form of Lord Narasimha, Mangalagiri enshrines three forms of Lord Narasimha- Panakala Narasimha Swami, Lakshmi Narasimha Swami and Gandala Narasimha Swami.
The name "Mangalagiri" actually means "Auspicious hill". These hills appear in the shape of an elephant when seen from any direction. Mangalagiri is beautiful town situated in Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh. This abode of Lord Narasimha Swami falls on the Guntur-Vijayawada Road. The two temple of Lord Narasimha, one at the foot of Mangalagiri hills dedicated to Lakshmi Narasimha Swami and the other on Mangalagiri hills dedicated to Panakala Narasimha Swami are the focal attractions of Mangalagiri town. The Gandala Narasimha Swami temple is also on the same hill at a bit higher altitude.
