Lepakshi City Travel Guide

Lepakshi Andhra Pradesh: A small village 15kms east of Hindupur in Anantapur district, Lepakshi is prominent historically and archaeologically. The metaphorical Lepakshi temple is one of the striking examples of the architecture of the Vijayanagar Era. Lepakshi consists of three shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Veerabhadra, a wrathful form of Shiva and a patron deity of the Nayak rulers. The Veerabhadra Temple is the most famous of all. On the hillocks known as "Kurma Saila" (tortoise-shaped hills), there are other temples of 'Papanatheswara', Raghunatha', 'Srirama' and 'Durga' including that of 'Veerabhadra' that are notable for its architecture.
