Kadiri is a town and municipality in the south-eastern part of Anantapur District. The name Kadiri emerged from a Sanskrit word 'Khadri' meaning Canary wood or Indian Mulberry. This place is famous for Sri Laxmi Narasimha Swami temple.
Kadiri is also famous for jasmine flowers and vermilion. It was rich in agriculture in whole of Anantapur, till recently, very well-known for groundnut and sunflower crops.
Another important place to visit here is the Samadhi (tomb) of the famous praja kavi Yogi Vemana located at Katarupalli near 10 kms from Kadiri.
