About Sri Nookambika Ammavari Temple Information-Anakapalle

Sri Nookambica Ammavari temple is the popular Holy shrine of goddess Nookambica Ammavaru, located in Gavarapalem, Anakapalle. This temple is also popularly known as Sri Anagha Devi temple, Nookalamma temple and Kakatambika temple. The godess Sri Nookambica Ammavaru is one of the nine Shakti forms and prominently known as Sri Anagha Devi during ancient period. During the Kakatiyas period this temple was renovated and goddess Nookambika was worshipped with the name Sri Kakatamba. On “Kottha Amavasya,” a day before Ugadi, thousands of devotees throng to this temple from various regions of the state for worship Sri Nookambica Devi. Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday are regarded as auspicious days for performing puja to Sri Nookalamma/Sri Nookambika Ammavaru/Sri Kakatamba/. During 1935 this temple was took over by the Endowments Department and the assistant commissioner of the region is appointed as executive officer for this temple.
