Bir Bhunerheri Wildlife Sanctuary, Punjab: Bir Bhunerheri Wildlife Sanctuary is a significant tourist destination, located on Patiala – Devigarh Road, Patiala. Because of its proximity to the city of Patiala, it attracts many tourists from nearby cities and states. This Sanctuary is spread approximately in an area of about 662 hectars. The place is full of Shisham & Kikar trees in and around the Sanctuary, which adds good habitat to wild animals. Out of the total land area, only 240 hectares area has been fenced with chain-link and cement concrete pillars.
The wild animals which are found in this Sanctuary are – Blue bull, Hog Deer, Black Buck, Jungle Cat, Porcupine, Porcupine, Sambar, Rhesus Monkey, Black and Grey Partridges, Peafowl, Dove and Spotted owlet. Dholi, Dhak, Shisham, Phalahi, Mesquite, Kikar, Khair, Jamun, Jand, Karri, Arjun, Beri, Neem, Nara, Toon, etc are some of the plant species found in the Sanctuary.
