Amritsar, Punjab: Amritsar is one of the most oldest and captivating cities of India. Amritsar is a Municipal corporation and the district headquarters of Amritsar district in the state of Punjab, India. The city of Amritsar is nestled in the northwest region of India and is situated at a distance of 30 kms (approx.) from the Wagah Border (Road border crossing between Pakistan and India). It is located at a distance of 235 kms northwest from the capital city of Punjab, Chandigarh.

Guru Ram Das named the tank as 'Amrit Sarovar' The Tank of Nectar' The name of Amritsar is derived from the tank named "Amrit Sarovar". Amrit Sarovar surrounds the beautiful Golden temple of Amritsar. Formerly the city of Amritsar also called as Ramdaspur and Guru Ki Nagri.
