Abohar, Punjab: Abohar city is a Municipal Committee in the district of Fazilka, located in the north western state of India - Punjab. It is geographically placed at 30.183° North Latitudes and 74.213° East longitudes. Abohar is spread on 804.24 square kilometers of land area. It is located at an average elevation of 178 meters above sea level.

Abohar city is situated in the south western region of Punjab - close to north western border of India. It is surrounded by the cities - Malout and Bathinda in the east, Hanumangarh in the south, Shri Ganga Nagar in the south west, Fazilka in the North West and Sri Muktsar Sahib in the north east regions respectively. The city of Abohar is called as Trinity of the Culture, Civilization and Ethnicity of Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan - as it shares borders with those three states.

It is believed that, the city of Abohar was founded during 12th century by the king - Abheraj Bhatti and named it as 'Abhegarh'. Later it became as Abohar.

Abohar is the largest city and is popularly known as 'California of Punjab' - Due to its rich soil, source of good irrigation and especially for the production of the fruit - Kinnow, a fruit of Orange family. Agriculture and Agro-based industry is the main source of income for the people of Abohar in Punjab-India. Cotton, rice, wheat and fruits like kinnows, Malta etc are the main crops of this region. Abohar is well-known for the cotton cultivation and is one of the largest cotton producing belts of Punjab and North India. Punjabi and Hindi are most spoken languages, with different dialects like Bagri and Haryanavi in the regions of Abohar. A delicious sweet - Tosha, prepared in the regions of Abohar and Fazilka is the well-known and popular desert of Punjab and North India.

Many cotton Mills, cotton ginning and Pressing Factories, Oil Mills and other small scale industries are established in the city of Abohar. Abohar city has a biogas plant, named as Anand Energy - It is the India's first bio gas bottling plant, which produces bio gas and bio manure from Bio Degradable waste material. Bio gas is used for commercial basis and bio manure is used in the fields.

Fazilka is the nearest big town to Abohar, at a distance of 36 kms from the centre of the city.
