Krishna Raja Sagar Dam, Mysore (KRS Dam): The Krishna Raja Sagar Dam is located at the confluence of the three rivers - Kaveri, Hemavati and Lakshmanathirtha near Mysore city. It is a popular weekend getaway spot along with the Brindavan Gardens which is situated within the Dam complex.
Named after the then ruler of the Mysore Kingdom, Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV, the dam which is 3 kms long was built by the world famous Sir M.V.Vishweshwaraiah.
KRS Dam acts as a reservoir for supplying water to the districts of Mandya and Mysore to the cities as well as the agricultural lands in this region.
Tucked away about 4 Kms from KRS Dam is a not-so-popular spot called the Blue Lagoons Island.
