The Tagore Hill as the name suggests is associated with history pertaining to Tagore family that was named after the Nobel Laureate and writer, Rabindranath Tagore. Situated about 3 km from the Ranchi G.P.O. is the hill which is about 300 ft. high.
It is presumed that Tagore had written a number of books when spending time on the hill. The serenity, peace and solitude that one experiences on this hill, perhaps served as an ideal setting for Tagore to write his much appreciated writing. One can have a panoramic view of the whole Ranchi city, while standing on the top of the hill.
The view and the scenic surroundings of the hill leaves every visitor spell bound. The place offers much tranquility and silence to be introspective.
Adding to its scenic beauty there is an ancient castle in an irregular form on the hill that adds as an added attraction. In spite of its incomplete structure, the castle’s architecture attracts many tourists. Thousands of tourists come to visit this historical place during their Ranchi itinerary.
At the foot of the hill are situated the famed Ramakrishna Mission Ashram and its office and an agrarian vocational institute center of Divyayan. This is the best place for one to unwind, de-stress and listen to one’s inner voice. This is also a good place for rock climbers and adventure lovers.
