Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary covers an area of about 893 Sq. Kms. The wilderness of the place is because of the flora and fauna found here. Kawal Sanctuary is basically a dry deciduous forest and all over the sanctuary you can find teak, bamboo, Terminalia (a genus of large trees of the flowering plant family), Pterocarpus (is mostly a timber traded as padauk (or padouk). Other common names are mukwa or narra), Anogeisus, Cassias and many more.
When it comes to the animals, you can see Tigers, Panthers, Gaur, Cheetal, Sambar, Nilgai, Barking Deer, Chowsingha, Mosue Deer, Sloth Bear and a large variety of birds and reptiles.
Kawal Wildlife Sanctuary is said to be one of the richest teak forests in Andhra Pradesh. The River Kadiam flowing through it adds to the existing beauty of the sanctuary.
